History

The Fowler and Foley families have been doing building renovation in the Oregon City/ Clackamas County area since the early 80's, slowing acquiring property that would one day become the Abernethy Center. Having the land and buildings around the old Oregon City post office created an opportunity after the flood of 1996 when the post office decided to relocate. Purchasing the 12,000 sq. ft. structure lead the families over a year long planning and building effort that resulted in the a 5,000 sq. ft. ballroom, 3500 sq. ft. commercial kitchen, a beautiful Bridal suite, sales office and support facilities.

The ballroom created a beautiful indoor space that opened November 2001. With the continued interest from the community it was evident there was also demand for outdoor wedding and event space.

Abigail's Garden, consisting of 5 acres of beautiful gardens and natural areas nestled along Abernethy Creek, opened in the spring of 2002. It immediately became one of the most sought after venues for wedding, corporate and social events in the Portland area.

In 2005 a second outdoor offering was added - the Veiled Garden. With its filtered light, tranquil creek and classic white gazebo, the Veiled Garden became the perfect backdrop for an intimate wedding ceremony along with different social events.

As we are continuously looking at ways to upgrade our facilities in order to provide multiple and unique options for our clients, we are very excited to announce the addition of a wedding chapel in 2012.
