5 Date Nights under $25
We all know that planning a wedding is a big investment. Many couples stash money away each month to put toward's their dream day. Planning a wedding can take up quite a bit of time, and let's face it, may cause a little bit of stress. It is so important to plan for fun and and have date nights with your fiance. The following is a list of 5 fun date nights that will cost the two of you less than $25.
1. Omsi After Dark
You may have visited OMSI on afield trip when you were a child, but OMSI After Dark is a whole different experience. The last Wednesday of every month, they open the doors to the 21 and older for a themed evening of what they like to call "Geeks Gone Wild." Complete with live demonstrations, food and drink samples from local vendors, and a few bars set-up around the exhibits. Admission is $12 for non-members.

2. Pizza Night
Pizza and a movie may be a typical Friday night for you and your fiance, but have you ever tried to make your own pizza? It's easy, delicious, and surprisingly inexpensive. Plus, cooking together is fun. I typically shop at Trader Joes, but the following shopping list can be easily imitated at any store.
Pizza dough: $1.29
Marinara Sauce: $1.00
Shredded Mozzarella cheese: $3.99
Toppings! I like olives and mushrooms: $5.00
The pizza dough package will have cooking instructions. It's easy!
Complete your pizza with a $3 bottle of wine, and a movie from your Netflix queue.
3. Oaks Park Roller Skating
Exercise, music, and Icees; this is a fun way to spend a Friday or Saturday nigh. Oaks Amusement Park's roller rink is open until 10:30pm on the weekend and it is an inexpensive, fun date that will help you find out how coordinated your fiance is. Admission is $6.75 and skates are $1.50. Icees are additional. www.oakspark.com

4. Go out for a Movie
Your first thought may be, that is impossible for under $25, and yes it nearly is if you are going to the big theaters to see new releases. However, if you can wait several weeks, that new release will make it into one of the cheap theaters in Portland. Occassionally you will find that they are showcasing cult classics as well such as Princess Bride. These theaters also serve beer, wine, and your not-so-typical movie food.
McMenamins Theaters - Numerous Portland locations - Tickets: $3.00
Laurelhurst Theater - East Burnside - Tickets: $4.00
Moreland Theater - Sellwood/SE Portland - Tickets are $3.00
5. Trivia Night
Board games are fun, but trivia is even better! Test your knowledge on everything from Johnny Depp to health terms and geography, as you and your fiance team up against the rest of the bar in a trivia challenge. It's free to enter, but libations and food are extra. If you are crowned winner, the prize is often a $25 gift card to the bar. This is definitely a fun option for a double date. Two of my favorite Trivia Nights are:
The Pope House - NW Glisan - Sundays at 8:00pm
Hawthorne Hideaway - SE Hawthorne Blvd - Tuesdays at 8:30pm - Free pool, too!
Check with your favorite neighborhood bar, you may be surprised to find they have a trivia night.
Have fun on your dates!
Cheers - Alyssa
